Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami has expressed profound grief over the tragic stampede that occurred near the footpath of the renowned Mansha Devi temple in Haridwar district, which claimed the lives of six devotees. Extending heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, the Chief Minister assured that the state government stands firmly with them in this hour of grief.

In response to the tragedy, the Chief Minister announced an ex-gratia of ₹2 lakh each to the families of the deceased and ₹50,000 each to the injured. He directed the district administration to provide all necessary support and assistance to the affected families without delay.

Taking serious note of the incident, CM Dhami ordered a magisterial inquiry to ascertain the cause of the stampede and ensure accountability. He also instructed officials to carry out a comprehensive review of the existing crowd management and security protocols at religious sites, particularly during peak pilgrimage times, to prevent such incidents in the future.

Secretary, Disaster Management, Shri Vinod Kumar Suman, informed that five critically injured devotees have been referred to AIIMS Rishikesh for advanced treatment. Meanwhile, 23 others are receiving medical care at the District Hospital in Haridwar, where the administration is ensuring all necessary treatment and support.

The incident has cast a shadow over the ongoing pilgrimage season, raising concerns over crowd control measures at major religious destinations in the state. The state government has reiterated its commitment to improving safety infrastructure and ensuring that the faith and security of pilgrims remain paramount.
