A tragic road accident claimed the lives of five members of a family after a Mahindra Bolero vehicle lost control and plunged into a deep gorge near Kunddhar on the Devprayag-Pauri highway.
According to Pauri Garhwal SSP Sarvesh Panwar, six people were traveling in the vehicle at the time of the incident. Upon receiving word of the crash, rescue teams from the local police and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) immediately rushed to the spot and launched a search and relief operation in the challenging terrain.
Five of the six occupants died on the spot from the severe impact of the drop. Rescuers successfully managed to extract one surviving injured passenger from the gorge. The victim was immediately stabilized and transferred to the Base Hospital in Srinagar for advanced medical treatment.
Preliminary reports indicate that all the victims were residents of Raipur Jeetpur in the Haridwar district and were traveling together as a family toward Pauri. The district administration, local police, and SDRF personnel are currently completing the required legal and administrative procedures at the site.
