Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday inaugurated a state-level exhibition on the theme of “Nayi Nyaya Samhita” organized by the Government of Uttarakhand at Bairagi Camp in Haridwar.
The exhibition has been organized to promote effective implementation and public awareness of the newly introduced criminal laws enacted by the Government of India, including the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam.
Awareness About the Modern Criminal Justice System
The primary objective of the exhibition is to familiarize various stakeholders—including citizens, advocates, police officers, and prosecution officials—with India’s modernized criminal justice framework.
Through simple, visual, and interactive displays, the exhibition explains the key provisions and reforms introduced under the new Nyaya Codes.
Key Features Highlighted in the Exhibition
The exhibition presents several important features of the new laws, including:
-
Mandatory time-bound investigation and filing of charge sheets
-
Provision for Zero FIR and e-FIR to make complaint registration easier
-
Mandatory forensic investigation for crimes punishable with more than seven years of imprisonment
-
Legal recognition of electronic and digital evidence
-
Stronger provisions for crimes against women and children
These reforms aim to make the justice delivery system faster, transparent, and more technology-driven.
Uttarakhand Leads in Implementation of New Criminal Laws
According to officials, Uttarakhand has been ranked first in the country for the effective implementation of the new criminal laws, reflecting the state government’s commitment to strengthening law enforcement and judicial processes.
Exhibition Open Till March 9
The exhibition will remain open to the public and stakeholders until March 9, providing an opportunity for people to learn about the new criminal justice system and its impact on policing, investigation, and legal procedures.
Officials believe the initiative will help build greater public awareness and ensure smoother implementation of the new legal framework across the state.
