Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami along with his mother Bishni Devi, cast their votes in the first phase of the three-tier Panchayat elections in Nagla Tarai, Khatima. After exercising their franchise, both proudly displayed the ink mark on their fingers to the media, symbolizing their commitment to strengthening democracy at the grassroots level. CM emphasized that this act was not just a constitutional right but a pledge to reinforce the democratic foundation of every village in Uttarakhand.
Talking to the media after voting, CM Dhami said, “Every vote is a step towards empowering our Panchayati Raj institutions. Strong villages form the backbone of a strong state. By voting today, I reaffirm my commitment to inclusive development, transparency, and grassroots governance.”
The Chief Minister called upon the people of Uttarakhand to participate enthusiastically in what he described as a “festival of democracy.” Urging maximum voter turnout, he appealed to residents across the state to elect capable and service-oriented public representatives who embody the principles of development and integrity.
“Your one vote has the potential to transform the future of your village. Let us elect leaders who truly serve and understand the needs of our rural communities,” he added.
CM Dhami also emphasized the crucial role that Panchayats play in the state’s development journey. “Only empowered and accountable Panchayats can pave the way for a prosperous and self-reliant Uttarakhand,” he said.
The first phase of polling witnessed active participation from voters across multiple districts. The state administration has made elaborate arrangements to ensure free, fair, and peaceful elections.
The Panchayat elections are being seen as a vital exercise in strengthening local governance and ensuring that the benefits of government schemes and policies reach the last person in the last village.
