DAINIK NATION BUREAU/DEHRADUN

Uttarakhand Medical Education Director Dr Ashutosh Sayana has categorically said that Haridwar Medical College students should not worry about their academic future as there will be no change in fees, examinations or the MBBS degree they will receive. The institute will continue to be known as a government medical college and students’ rights and privileges will remain intact.

Addressing concerns about the potential shift in the college’s management to Public-Private Partnership (PPP) mode, Dr Sayana has assured students and the general public that all existing facilities and benefits would remain unaffected. He clarified that while a letter of intent has been issued regarding the PPP model to improve infrastructure and services, a final decision is yet to be taken.

Dr. Sayana emphasized that even if the college is operated under the PPP mode, students will receive government-certified MBBS degrees, and the fees will remain unchanged. He reiterated that patients will continue to be treated at affordable rates under Ayushman Bharat and CGHS schemes, ensuring that healthcare services remain accessible.

The state government is committed to enhance healthcare facilities while safeguarding students’ interests. Dr. Sayana reiterated that whether the management remains fully government-run or shifts to PPP mode, the core objective will be to provide top-notch medical education to students and healthcare services to state as well.

This announcement aims to dispel doubts and concerns among students and the local community, highlighting the government’s focus on both academic excellence and public welfare.
