In a prestigious recognition of his contributions to education and public service, Dr. R. Meenakshi Sundaram, Principal Secretary, Government of Uttarakhand, has been nominated as a member of the Permanent Executive Council of the International Goodwill Society of India (IGSI).

The announcement was made by Dr. Jane Narayan Ariya (Retd.), National President of IGSI and former Defence Secretary of India. Dr. Sundaram has also been appointed as the National President of the International Goodwill Society of India, the apex body that brings together distinguished professionals from the fields of education, administration, and public service.

The Permanent Executive Council is the highest advisory and governing body of IGSI. Members of the council enjoy lifetime status and their contributions, including official statements and video addresses, become part of the society’s permanent record.

Founded by Dr. Nagendra Singh, the first Indian to serve as Chief Justice at the International Court of Justice in The Hague, IGSI was established to promote goodwill, peace, and value-based education. The organization’s objectives — such as nurturing responsible citizenship and promoting inquisitive learning among youth — have gained renewed global relevance in today’s rapidly changing world.

Dr. Sundaram, who also serves as the President of IGSI’s Uttarakhand Chapter, has played an instrumental role in strengthening the society’s presence and mission in the region. His nomination to the national leadership is seen as a recognition of his longstanding commitment to public welfare and educational excellence.

Other notable IGSI members from Uttarakhand include Subhash Kumar, former Chief Secretary of the state, who is also part of the Permanent Associate Council.

The announcement marks a proud moment for Uttarakhand and highlights the state’s growing influence in national educational and administrative circles.
