After a hiatus of six years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the revered Kailash Mansarovar Yatra has been resumed with great traditional fervor and spiritual enthusiasm. The first group of 45 pilgrims for the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra-2025 was accorded a grand welcome at the Tourist Rest House in Tanakpur, Devbhoomi Uttarakhand.

The atmosphere was filled with devotion and culture as the beats of Dhol-Damau and chants of “Bam-Bam Bhole” echoed through the premises. The pilgrims were welcomed with vibrant performances of the traditional Chholiya dance, while young girls in traditional attire applied tilak, offered aarti, and showered flowers to greet the yatris. The event beautifully reflected the spiritual spirit and rich folk culture of Uttarakhand.

The first batch includes 32 men and 13 women pilgrims from various states including Gujarat (11), Delhi (7), Rajasthan (6), Maharashtra (5), Uttar Pradesh (4), Madhya Pradesh (3), Tamil Nadu (2), Jammu and Kashmir (2), Chhattisgarh (1), Telangana (1), Uttarakhand (2), and West Bengal (1).

Pilgrims expressed their delight over the warm reception and excellent arrangements. Saumya Patel (25) from Gujarat called it a “memorable beginning,” while 69-year-old Rajesh Kumar from Rajasthan praised the efficient local administration. Lehari Devi from Tamil Nadu described the experience as a “wonderful spiritual feeling,” and Kishore Shah from Gujarat thanked the Government of India and the people of Tanakpur for the heartfelt welcome.

This evening, the pilgrims will enjoy cultural performances by local folk artists, offering them a glimpse into the rich heritage of Uttarakhand.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami will formally flag off the first group on July 5, marking a historic revival of the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra after its suspension since 2019.
