CM Pushkar Singh Dhami Flags Off Fit India Run, Encourages Youth Towards Fitness

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami flagged off the Fit India Run at Maharana Pratap Sports College, Dehradun on Sunday. It was organized to mark the completion of three years of the Uttarakhand government under his leadership. Demonstrating his commitment to fitness, CM Dhami performed 20 push-ups and completed a full round of the track. With this, he sent a strong message about the importance of health and well-being.

The Chief Minister actively engaged with the players, performing push-ups to inspire them and administered the Fit India oath. Additionally, he distributed drones to outstanding performers of a drone course conducted in collaboration with the Uttarakhand Youth Welfare Department.

Speaking at the event, CM Dhami reflected on the achievements of his government over the past three years, emphasizing service, good governance, and development. He applauded the resilience of athletes who have brought laurels to the country despite challenges. Stressing the importance of fitness, he urged citizens, especially the youth, to exercise for at least 30 minutes daily, consume nutritious food, and stay away from addiction.

CM Dhami highlighted the significance of the Fit India Movement, an initiative launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to promote a healthy lifestyle. He noted that the campaign has now evolved into a mass movement, reaching every household, village, and city. The state government, he assured, is actively supporting this mission.

The Chief Minister also acknowledged the successful hosting of the 38th National Games in Uttarakhand, which was praised by the Prime Minister in his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ address. Uttarakhand athletes excelled at the Games, winning 103 medals and securing seventh place in the overall medal tally. To encourage sports excellence, the state government has decided to double the prize money for medal-winning athletes and offer out-of-turn appointments in various departments.

To further promote sports, the government has introduced schemes such as the Mukhyamantri Udyaman Khiladi Yojana and the Mukhyamantri Protsahan Yojana. Financial aid for sports injuries, travel support for national-level competitions, and sports kit provisions are also being facilitated.

The event was attended by public representatives, officials, and sports enthusiasts, reinforcing the commitment towards a fitter and healthier Uttarakhand.
