In a bid to curb the menace of fake saints in Uttarakhand, the state government is set to launch “Operation Kalanemi”. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has instructed officials to take swift and stringent action against individuals impersonating saints and committing fraud under the guise of Sanatan Dharma in Devbhoomi Uttarakhand. Terming such acts as a serious attack on faith and social harmony, the Chief Minister announced this focused campaign to identify and eliminate these deceptive elements operating under a religious facade.
The campaign draws its name from the mythological demon Kalanemi, who attempted to deceive by disguising himself as a saint. CM Dhami said that similar to the mythical character, today’s society also faces threats from such “modern-day Kalanemis” who wear religious garb to exploit and mislead innocent people, especially women.
“These anti-social elements are not only committing crimes but are also playing with the religious sentiments and trust of the people,” said the Chief Minister. “This is a direct attack on Sanatan culture and such deceit will not be tolerated under any circumstances.”
He made it clear that the state government is committed to preserving the dignity of Sanatan traditions, protecting public faith, and maintaining social harmony. He directed law enforcement agencies to identify such impersonators at the earliest and take swift and exemplary legal action against them, regardless of their religious affiliation.
CM Dhami emphasized that no one has the right to misuse religion for personal gain or criminal activity, and the government will leave no stone unturned in safeguarding Devbhoomi’s spiritual identity.
“Operation Kalanemi” marks a significant step by the Uttarakhand government to combat religious exploitation and uphold the true essence of faith, purity, and trust in the land revered as the abode of the gods.
