In a heartfelt tribute to the unwavering dedication, sacrifice, and hard work of the farming community, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Saturday participated in paddy sowing on his private farmland in the Nagra Terai region of Khatima. The event not only highlighted the Chief Minister’s strong emotional connect with the soil but also served as a powerful message of solidarity with Uttarakhand’s farmers.
Marking the beginning of the sowing season, Shri Dhami performed traditional rituals to seek divine blessings for a good harvest. He offered prayers to Bhumiyan Devta (deity of land), Lord Indra (god of rains), and Meghraj (god of clouds), accompanied by the rhythmic beats of Hudkiya Baul — a traditional folk instrument played for generations in the fields of Uttarakhand. The soulful performance evoked deep cultural resonance and brought rural heritage to the forefront.
Dressed in simple traditional attire and working shoulder-to-shoulder with local farmers, the Chief Minister’s humble and hands-on participation drew widespread praise and emotional reactions from villagers. His presence in the fields sparked nostalgia among many, while his cultural gestures inspired pride in local traditions.
This initiative by CM Dhami stands as a symbol of the state government’s commitment to honoring farmers, who form the backbone of Uttarakhand’s economy. It also reflects a conscious effort to preserve and promote the hill state’s traditional agricultural practices, rural customs, and rich folk heritage.
Through this gesture, Chief Minister Dhami has reinforced the message that governance is not just policy-making from offices, but also about meaningful engagement with people, culture, and land. His actions continue to bridge the gap between leadership and the grassroots, setting a powerful example of culturally rooted governance.
