Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Saturday held a direct and interactive dialogue with students from various schools of Champawat district under the Bal Samvad programme. Connecting via video conferencing from the Tourist Rest House in Tanakpur, the Chief Minister engaged with young students to understand the progress of sports activities in schools and gather their suggestions and feedback.
The interaction focused on strengthening the sports ecosystem at the grassroots level. Students from different Rajiv Gandhi Navodaya Vidyalayas (RIK) — including Gaurav from RIK Champawat, Preeti from RIK Pati, Kanchan from RIK Tanakpur, Sagar from RIK Chaumel, and Monica from RIK Champawat — shared their experiences regarding sports facilities, training availability, and the benefits they have received under government schemes.
Students expressed their gratitude for the Mukhyamantri Udyaman Khiladi Protsahan Yojana, acknowledging that the scheme has played a vital role in enhancing their sports performance by providing necessary resources and support.
Encouraging the students, CM Dhami emphasized the importance of maintaining a balance between academics and sports. “Uttarakhand is not only Devbhoomi but is steadily establishing itself as Khelbhoomi,” he said. He described youth as the “charioteers of Amritkaal” and urged them to adopt discipline, time management, and perseverance as tools for success.
The Chief Minister reiterated the state government’s commitment to developing sports talent and promoting a strong sports culture. He highlighted the state’s new sports policy and ongoing initiatives, including the Udyaman Khiladi Yojana, as critical steps toward empowering youth and building a healthy, competitive spirit across schools.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and faculty members of schools from Champawat, Pati, Chaumel, Tanakpur, and Chamdeval regions, reinforcing the growing focus on grassroots sports development in Uttarakhand.
