The sacred portals of Shri Kedarnath Dham will be ceremoniously opened tomorrow i.e. May 2 amid Vedic rituals and spiritual fervor. In anticipation of the grand event, a massive influx of devotees from across India and abroad has already begun, filling Kedarghati with devotional energy and enthusiasm.
Preparations at Kedarnath, a key shrine in the Char Dham Yatra, have been completed by the district administration. As directed by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, special attention has been given to security, traffic, sanitation, and healthcare services to ensure a smooth and safe experience for pilgrims. Police personnel, disaster response teams, and medical staff have been stationed around the temple premises.
Baba Kedarnath Temple Chief Priest Jagadguru Rawal Bhima Shankar Ling Shivacharya says “As per tradition, the gates of Kedarnath temple will open tomorrow at 7:00 AM. Before this rituals will be conducted in the presence of military personnel and amidst grand floral decorations. The ceremony will begin with the opening of the temple’s outer gates.”
Adding to the spiritual grandeur, the temple has been magnificently adorned with 108 quintals of flowers, arranged by the Pushp Samiti of Rishikesh and Gujarat. The vibrant floral decorations have drawn additional crowds, eager to witness the divine atmosphere enveloping the shrine.
This evening, the Panchmukhi Chal Vigraha Utsav Doli of Baba Kedarnath is scheduled to arrive at the temple. The premises have been specially decorated to welcome the Doli, and a ceremonial event with devotional music will be held in its honor. The arrival of the Doli marks the spiritual climax of the pre-opening rituals, further elevating the devotional fervor at the Dham.
Local traders, priests, and residents are equally excited, as the beginning of the Yatra season brings both economic opportunity and deep spiritual significance. With chants of “Har Har Mahadev” echoing through the valley, Kedarnath is ready to welcome the faithful for yet another sacred pilgrimage season.
