Acting on the instructions of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the Uttarakhand government has taken stringent action against officials allegedly involved in the controversial land purchase case at Sarai by the Municipal Corporation of Haridwar. Four officials have been suspended, and disciplinary action initiated against another employee, while a show-cause notice has been issued to a senior finance officer.

A preliminary probe by the Municipal Commissioner revealed serious irregularities in the land purchase process. In response, Ranvir Singh Chauhan, Secretary, Sugarcane and Sugar, Uttarakhand Government, has been appointed as the inquiry officer for a detailed investigation.

Those suspended include Ravindra Kumar Dayal, Executive Officer Category-2 (acting Assistant Municipal Commissioner), Anand Singh Mishravan, Assistant Engineer (in-charge Executive Engineer), Laxmikant Bhatt, Tax and Revenue Superintendent, and Dinesh Chandra Kandpal, Junior Engineer. All four were part of the committee responsible for the land acquisition and were found to have grossly neglected their official duties.

Additionally, Vedpal, a retired property clerk working on an extension, has also been implicated in the case. Authorities have ordered his immediate removal and initiation of disciplinary action.

Furthermore, an explanation has been sought from Ms. Nikita Bisht, Senior Finance Officer, for her role in the irregularities.

The Chief Minister has made it clear that any form of administrative negligence or misuse of authority will not be tolerated, and accountability will be enforced strictly. The government has reiterated its commitment to transparency and good governance, stating that further action will follow upon completion of the inquiry.

The case has sparked concern in administrative circles and is likely to have wider implications as the investigation progresses.
