Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has inaugurated the ‘Surya Drone Tech 2025’ exhibition at Jaswant Ground, Dehradun Cant on April 29. The two-day event (April 29–30) organized by the Central Command of the Indian Army in collaboration with the Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers (SIDM). It showcases cutting-edge drone technologies developed in India under the “Atmanirbhar Bharat” initiative.
During his visit, CM Dhami observed various drone demonstrations and emphasized the state’s ambition to emerge as a defence production and drone technology hub. He stated that the government is working to foster technological innovation among youth and promote indigenous manufacturing in defence and aerospace sectors.
“In a strategically sensitive state like Uttarakhand, drone technology is a game-changer, especially in disaster response and relief operations,” the Chief Minister said. “Our aim is to empower youth with skills in drone innovation and ensure technology benefits both military and civilian applications.”
Highlighting the state’s proactive stance, he noted that drone technology, defence production, and tech startups have been given special focus in Uttarakhand’s new industrial policy. He described “Surya Drone Tech 2025” as a convergence of science, technology, and talent, providing a vital platform for startups, MSMEs, and innovators to showcase their work.
Dhami credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership for the rapid strides India is making in defence innovation. He reiterated the state’s commitment to aligning with national goals by promoting a robust ecosystem for drone manufacturing and defence R&D in Uttarakhand.
The event saw participation from drone experts, industry leaders, startups, NCC cadets, MSMEs, and school students, reflecting widespread interest in India’s growing drone sector.
