Yugal Joshi, Program Director of the Water and Land Resources Policy Commission, Government of India, has conducted a field inspection of the pump house operated by the Water Institute in Sisona, Sitarganj today. During his visit, Joshi reviewed the progress of the Jal Jeevan Mission — an ambitious scheme launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2019, aiming to provide clean drinking water to every household in the country.
Joshi expressed satisfaction over the rapid progress made in Uttarakhand under this mission, highlighting that the state is now among the frontrunners in ensuring water reaches every home. He was pleased to note that in Sisona village, clean and quality drinking water is being supplied twice daily, and on some days, even thrice. He praised the positive impact of this initiative on villagers’ health, time savings, and overall well-being.
During the inspection, Joshi sought details from Executive Engineer Banshidhar Bhatt about the overhead tank constructed for water storage and its maintenance system. He also interacted with women from local self-help groups, inquiring about their products and involvement in community development.
The villagers shared their happiness with Joshi, confirming that uninterrupted, clean water is now regularly supplied to their homes. Even during power outages, the system continues to function efficiently, eliminating water scarcity issues.
Mr. Joshi lauded the commendable work of the Jal Sansthan team and emphasized the importance of maintaining such high standards. He personally visited several homes to hear about the tangible benefits experienced by the residents.
Present during the visit were District Economics and Statistics Officer Nafeel Jameel, Executive Engineer Banshidhar Bhatt, and Assistant Engineer Anand Vallabh Joshi. The inspection concluded with positive feedback from both officials and villagers, marking it a successful review of the Jal Jeevan Mission’s implementation in the region.
