In view of the upcoming monsoon season, District Magistrate Navneet Pandey conducted a thorough inspection of flood-prone areas under the pre-monsoon disaster management plan. His visit focused on the vulnerable regions of Jhalakuri, Naulapani, and Belkhet, where he reviewed ongoing preparations and issued necessary instructions to the officials.
During his visit to Jhalakuri, the District Magistrate stressed the importance of regular cleaning of rain drains and maintaining an uninterrupted flow of water. He pointed out the need to strengthen the drainage system to prevent waterlogging during heavy rains. He also directed that the construction work of a protective wall should begin without delay to safeguard the area from potential flood risks.
In Naulapani, where the risk of land subsidence is high, Pandey instructed officials to promptly alert residents in areas where soil sliding poses a danger. He emphasized improving the drainage network to minimize soil erosion and ensure the safety of the local population.
While inspecting Belkhet, the District Magistrate took serious note of the land erosion caused by the river. He ordered immediate initiation of channelization work to control water flow and reduce further damage. Interacting with local villagers, he assured them of the administration’s full preparedness and their safety being a top priority.
The District Magistrate further directed that debris removal work in all areas should be expedited before the rains, ensuring that roads and pathways remain clear and accessible. He made it clear that all necessary safety measures must be completed in advance and warned that any negligence in disaster preparedness would not be tolerated.
The administration remains on high alert, taking proactive steps to tackle possible challenges during the monsoon season and safeguarding the lives and property of residents.
