Few vehicles stuck under debris, which came down due to sudden & heavy rainfall in Chamoli district on Wednesday. It has disrupted traffic and damages few vehicles, which were parked on road side and stuck under debris, too. The sudden overflow resulted in debris spilling onto the Karnprayag-Tharali and Tharali-Dewal roads, rendering them temporarily inaccessible. Two vehicles, including a Scorpio, were buried under the debris. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported so far.

District Magistrate Sandeep Tiwari confirmed that immediately after receiving information about the incident, a team from the district administration and police reached the site. Their prompt action led to the reopening of both the affected routes. Efforts are now underway to safely remove the vehicles trapped under the debris, with appropriate measures being taken as per official guidelines.

The District Magistrate has urged residents and travelers to avoid venturing into landslide- or flood-prone areas during periods of heavy rain. Authorities remain on alert as rainfall continues in several parts of the district. People have been advised to stay updated with weather alerts and follow safety instructions issued by the administration.

The district administration is closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with disaster management teams to ensure public safety.
