Taking cognizance on a complaint regarding the supply of expired food items through the online platform Blinkit, the FDA carried out raids at two Blinkit stores in Dehradun on Saturday. Ironically the Uttarakhand Food Safety and Drug Administration (FDA) has intensified its crackdown on adulterated and expired food items being sold during Navratri.
The raids were led by Deputy Commissioner Garhwal Division R.S. Rawat and District Designated Officer Manish Sayana, under the direction of Health Secretary and FDA Commissioner Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar. During the inspection, expired chips and bread packets without manufacturing or expiry dates were found at both locations — a direct violation of food safety standards.
On-the-spot notices were issued to both stores, and responses have been sought. The department confirmed that legal action will follow based on the replies received.
The raid conducted by a team led by Senior Food Safety Officers Ramesh Singh, Sanjay Tiwari, Jagdish Raturi, and Sanjay Negi. Authorities have appealed to the public to check food labels while purchasing online and report any irregularities.
