The state government has issued orders for cancellation of tender awarded for construction of Jaulijibi-Tanakpur road after a departmental inquiry found gross irregularities in the manner in which it was awarded.
Acting on the inquiry conducted by BN Tiwari, Chief Engineer, PMGSY, Kumaon region, and Om Prakash, Additional Chief Secretary today issued orders for the cancellation of the contract.
“I had taken up the matter with the CM, who ordered an inquiry. I want the tender cancelled and a case registered under Section 420,” demanded Puran Singh Fartyal, MLA Lohaghat.
He said that the firm was awarded the Rs 123 crore road project by the former government a day before the model code of conduct for elections was imposed in the state. The MLA alleged that the firm was favoured as it was close to the ruling party.
