Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has launched “e-Rupi” system and unveiled four new agricultural policies too. Its objective is to enhance farmers’ income and promote crop diversification in Uttarakhand. It happened at the Secretariat in the presence of top officials, agriculture experts, and farmers from across the state.
The e-Rupi system, based on cutting-edge digital technology, is designed to ensure transparent, fast, and middleman-free subsidy disbursal to farmers. Under this pilot project, subsidies will be sent directly to farmers via e-vouchers (SMS or QR codes), which can be used to purchase seeds, fertilizers, and medicines from authorized vendors.
Calling it a “game-changer,” CM Dhami said, “The e-Rupi initiative will empower food producers and enhance trust in the system. We are committed to making agriculture more efficient, self-reliant, and migration-resistant.”
The Chief Minister also introduced four new agricultural schemes: the Kiwi Policy, Dragon Fruit Policy, Apple Post-Harvest Scheme, and the Millet Mission. These initiatives aim to promote agricultural diversification, improve post-harvest management, and increase farmer incomes, especially in hill regions.
He further announced that the government is preparing dedicated policies for flower cultivation and honey production, which will be introduced soon.
To ensure the success of e-Rupi, CM Dhami instructed officials to conduct awareness and training programs in every village. He emphasized the role of these reforms in building a self-reliant agricultural economy in Uttarakhand.
Present on the occasion were Agriculture Minister Ganesh Joshi, senior officials, and representatives from various agricultural boards and advisory committees.
