Colours of Folk Culture Shine at CM Residence’s Holi Milan programme in Doon

Uttarakhand Chief Minister’s residence on Thursday turned into a vibrant cultural hub. As folk artists from across state gathered for the Holi Milan programme. The event showcased the rich folk traditions of Garhwal, Kumaon, and Jaunsar, filling the air with Holi songs, dances, and the beats of traditional instruments.

On one side, Jaunsari artists captivated the audience with the Harul dance, while on the other, women artists from Lohaghat danced and sang Holi songs with unmatched enthusiasm. Almora’s Chholiya dancers added a dynamic touch, while the cultural group from Rath area of Pauri left an impression with their distinct musical performances.

The open premises of the CM residence were alive with colours as artists responded to the invitation of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. Holi songs echoed through the venue, accompanied by drums and other traditional instruments. Songs like “Aao Dagdiyo, Nacha Gaava, Aa Gayi Rangili Holi” by Almora artists and “Aai Dandu Basant, Dali Ma Maulyar” from the Rath region enthralled the audience.

The Rath Area Art Committee, led by Prem Singh Negi, expressed their joy at being specially invited. “Our 19-member team is proud to perform at the CM residence,” he said. The Shivnidhi Self Help Group of Lohaghat, with its 54-member team, also delivered an outstanding performance. Alka, the group leader, shared her excitement about performing at the CM residence for the first time.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami actively participated in the celebrations, dancing with artists and playing traditional instruments like the dhol and thali.

Folk artists praised the CM for his efforts in preserving Uttarakhand’s cultural heritage. A 20-member team from Maharana Pratap Tharu Utthan Samiti, Khatima, also performed, with members Bunty Rana and Rinku Rana appreciating the government’s support in promoting folk talent.
