Taking cognizance on media reports Uttarakhand Medical Education Director Dr. Ashutosh Sayana has categorically clarified that there will be no fee hike for students at Haridwar Medical College, which is running under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. He assured that students would continue to receive all the benefits according to other government medical colleges in Uttarakhand.
Dr. Sayana stated that the college has already begun its academic session with an intake of 100 MBBS students. The move to adopt the PPP model was aimed at upgrading infrastructure, enhancing amenities, and improving overall administration. Importantly, he confirmed that it has been explicitly outlined in the PPP agreement that no fee hike will be imposed on undergraduate students. Additionally, degrees and certificates issued will carry the name of Haridwar Medical College, maintaining its identity.
Regarding patient services, Dr. Sayana assured that treatments will be provided at standard Ayushman Bharat and CGHS-approved rates. He emphasized that the modernization of both the hospital and college through the PPP model will ensure better healthcare services and academic excellence.
Dr. Sayana urged students and the public not to have any concerns about the PPP model, reiterating that their interests will be safeguarded.
