Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has been focussing on public issues after Lok sabha election polling complete in Uttarakhand. In this scenario he convened a meeting with forest officials on Saturday and instructed them to do everything to douse the forest fire immediately.
His proactive stance commenced with a meeting with forest officials here in Dehradun on Saturday. Where he unequivocally conveyed to Forest Department officials that accountability for forest fire incidents would be established. Additionally, Dhami hinted at convening discussions soon to address concerns regarding the upcoming Chardham Yatra, drinking water supply, and monsoon preparedness.
Returning to full throttle after a 35-day election campaign stint, Chief Minister Dhami’s renewed vigor has rattled officials who had been preoccupied with election preparations, sidelining public concerns. Upon his return to Dehradun from the Kumaon tour, Dhami wasted no time in convening a meeting with state and district-level officials to discuss forest fire prevention strategies.
Highlighting the looming challenge of forest fires during the four summer months, Dhami emphasized the need for proactive micro-planning and effective implementation of prevention measures. He stressed the appointment of nodal officers at the district level, alongside the dissemination of awareness through helplines and toll-free numbers.
Dhami underscored the importance of collaborative efforts, urging coordination between the forest department, local communities, public representatives, and forest panchayats. His swift action post-elections has unsettled officials accustomed to a slower pace, with Dhami’s clear directive that public issues must be promptly addressed, leaving no room for complacency. He urged officials to attend meetings fully prepared and transition from election-centric activities to routine governance tasks.
