Nainital has emerged as the healthiest district in the Human Development Index (Health Index). Due to the better functioning of the health department in the district, the people of Nainital have got the highest benefit of the schemes. Chamoli district is the last in this list. Government has released Health Index Ranking 2018 after examining six points.
Six points have been standardized in index preparation. In this, delivery percentage in government hospitals, vaccination of children, children arriving in Anganwadi, beneficiaries of government health plans, treatment of critical illness in government hospitals and condition of primary health centers has been made standard. The performance of Kumaon on all these points is much better than Garhwal. Nainital is followed by Almora, Champawat and Bageshwar. Capital Dehradun is the seventh number out of the 13 districts in the state.
Private health insurance of just 2 percent of people
49% of the state’s population is within the purview of Government Health Insurance Scheme. Only two per cent of people have given their health insurance to a private company. Two and a half percent of people have health insurance of their company. More than 15 percent of the people are in the purview of ECH and CGHS.
Every person in the state is spending 9.4% of his income on health every year. The average cost per person in the state is Rs. 3740. Good health facilities in the mountains still remain a big problem.
