Committee to probe death of 9 newborn; CM

Taking cognizance on the death of nine newborn baby in a day at the government civil hospital, Ahmedabad  state government has constituted a committee to probe the matter today.

In poll bound state such incident has shocked everyone that how it has happened. As the news broke then CM Vijay Rupani himself rushed to the hospital to check the facilities and medicines available.

Enquired whether deaths happened due to negligence or mismanagement of the hospital. He has appointed a committee led by the deputy director of medical education to probe the death.

He claimed that during his inspection he found that there was no shortage of doctors or medicines in the hospital but the government would not hesitate from taking stern action against anyone if found guilty of negligence by the three-member committee.

“This is a very sad incident and we have already appointed a panel to look into the reasons. We will immediately initiate steps to overcome any negligence or lacunae found by the panel,” Rupani said. “However, prima facie,

it appears that the case is not about lack of availability of medicines or medical facilities,” he added

Although five out of nine newborn were born elsewhere but referred to the Ahmedabad hospital from distant places in bad condition, the authorities fearing Uttar Pradesh-type situation had arranged for heavy police deployment in the hospital last night as the news about deaths went viral on the social media, particularly because the state Assembly elections were just 40 days away.
