Union Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Thawar Chand Gehlot has categorically said that more than 28000 physical aids and assisted living devices have been distributed among more than 16000 beneficiaries under the ‘Rashtriya Vayoshree Yojana’ so far. He revealed this figure while presiding over a programme organised with the support of Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO) at SSJ campus Almora. The programme was attended by state chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat, union minister Ajay Tamta, state minister Rekha arya and others.
In his address state Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat said that their government is committed to provide the benefit among the beneficiaries especially who lives in the remote areas of the State. By organizing such camp here in Uttarakhand, state has become ninth state where this scheme implemented. For this scheme Almora and Haridwar districts of the state have been selected.
Gehlot said that the scheme was launched at Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh (AP) on April this year. Under this scheme, the senior citizens are being provided aids as per their need including wheel chair, walking sticks, hearing aid, spectacles and denture.
IN this programme 696 hearing aid machines, 34 wheel chairs, 745 specs, 288 artificial denture and 788 walking sticks were distributed. He appealed the public representatives help the district administration in opening of Day care centres and old age homes in their areas.
He further said that their government has decided to provide free gas connections to four lakh families, who were left out in Ujjawala scheme, in coming days. As far as migration is concerned then state government has set up Rural Development and Migration Commission in Pauri district. The 670 Nyay Panchayats are being groomed as Growth Centres, where around 200 people would get employment opportunities.
Meanwhile two Intensive Care Unit (ICU) centres are being set up in every district of the State. He appealed the people of the State to plant a sapling on birth of every girl. He said that the sanitation should be made a public movement.
