Daughter made eligible for govt job on compassionate ground: Kaushik

In a bid to empower the women Trivendra Singh Rawat cabinet has announced that now divorced daughter of the government employee, who passes away during service, will be eligible for job on compassionate ground. They have also decided to provide LPG connections to four lakh families, which were not covered under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. cabinet has also extended the timing of liquor shops in hilly areas. Now liquor shop will open till 10 pm in place of 6 pm earlier.

Uttarakhand government spokesperson Madan Kaushik said that the Cabinet agreed to extend the timings of liquor shops in the hilly areas as the opposition had been pressing upon it, clarifying that the government was not interested in enhancing the revenue through the sale of liquor. Cabinet also approved a one-time bonus of Rs 7,000 to state government employees and also gave nod for the implementation of the 7th Pay Commission recommendations to the employees of Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam (GMVN), Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam (KMVN), Urban Local bodies and Zila Panchayat employees.

To disburse the one month bonus i.e. Rs 7000 for each government employees state will have to spend Rs 1.5 crore. Cabinet also approved the integration of the DMMC (Disaster Mitigation and Management Centre) into the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) and similar units into the district level authorities. They have approved the creation of two posts of GIS and Geologists. In all seven employees working in the DMMC have been merged into the SDMA. Also approved for the change in land use (agriculture land) for a private university by the name of the University of North West Himalayas.

The Cabinet has also approved MSP for the kharif season for paddy at Rs 1,550 (ordinary) and Rs 1,590 (grade A). Cabinet also approved compulsory use of LED bulb in place of normal bulb and tube lights in all government offices.

The Cabinet also approved the expansion of the areas of Haridwar Municipal Corporation by inclusion of around 665 hectare of land comprising of five villages and Roorkee Municipal Corporation by clubbing two new villages will be brought in.
