The state Chief Secretary S Ramaswami has categorically said that to reduce the road accident case you cancel the license of the vehicle and driver, who met accident quite often or breach traffic rules. You enforce wearing of helmet while driving effectively across the state. Remove the hoarding which creates problem for the motorist with immediate effect and address the identified black spot i.e. accident prone areas. You constitute road safety committee at district too. You conduct a drive with the joint collaboration of Police, Transport, PWD, national highway and health departments.
CS expressed these views while presiding the state road safety monitoring committee here in secretariat. During the meeting officials apprised that accident number has reduced but it needs special monitoring in Dehradun, Haridwar, Nainital and Udhamsinghnagar. They would shortly introduce Road safety fund rules. For driving license automated driving test tracks are being established at 10 different places. Along with this sarathi-IV software is being placed in eight transport offices of the state. Ten more officies will also be equipped with this software shortly. To help the accident victim especially in congested areas/street motor bike ambulance is being promoted. Before giving permit to the ambulance they will have to seek NoC from health department. Besides it they would run advertisement of road safety in Cineplex and introduce this in school curriculum too.
