Taking cognizance of the week-long protest by unemployed youth, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Monday announced that the state government would recommend a CBI investigation into the Uttarakhand Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UKSSSC) examination held on September 21, 2025. With this step, the Chief Minister accepted the demand of the agitating candidates.

Making a surprise visit to the Parade Ground in Dehradun, where hundreds of aspirants had been staging a sit-in, Dhami personally addressed the protesters. He said he was deeply moved to see the youth braving the heat during the festive season and assured them that the government’s top priority was to ensure a fair and transparent recruitment process. “In the past four years, we have conducted over 25,000 recruitments without complaints. This is the only case where doubts have arisen, and we are determined to remove them,” the CM said.

Dhami acknowledged that an SIT led by a retired High Court judge was already probing the matter, but in view of the candidates’ persistent demand, the government would not create any obstacle to a CBI inquiry. “We will recommend a CBI probe. There will be no obstruction,” he declared.

In an emotional appeal, the Chief Minister said he understood the struggles and dreams of Uttarakhand’s youth preparing for government jobs. “I have personally experienced such situations, which is why I came here myself instead of calling you to my office,” he added.

Dhami further assured that any cases filed against the protesting youth would be withdrawn. He stressed that in the Amritkaal of a developing India, Uttarakhand’s youth would play a decisive role in making the state one of the best in the country.

The Chief Minister’s outreach and his announcement of a CBI probe brought relief to the agitating candidates, who had been demanding transparency in recruitment examinations for several days.
