Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Monday inaugurated the ‘House of Himalayas’ outlet at Uttarakhand Niwas Complex in New Delhi. The outlet will serve as a key platform to showcase and sell Uttarakhand’s traditional heritage and organic products in an organized manner in the national capital.
Speaking on the occasion, CM Dhami said the initiative is part of the state government’s broader vision to promote locally made, natural, and handcrafted goods from the mountainous regions of Uttarakhand on a global scale. “This step will help strengthen the rural economy while creating new opportunities for local artisans and craftsmen,” he said.
To promote local products among pilgrims and tourists, the government has already set up attractive retail carts and floor units at more than 13 prominent locations including Kedarnath, Badrinath, Harshil, Rishikesh, Mussoorie, Pantnagar Airport, and Delhi Haat. The initiative is drawing attention from both tourists and devotees.
Secretary Rural Development Radhika Jha said the ‘House of Himalayas’ brand has rapidly gained recognition for its quality products, which are also available on major e-commerce platforms like Amazon and Blinkit. The brand is expanding its presence through strategic partnerships with top hotel chains including Taj, Hyatt, Marriott, Westin, and JP Group.
Inspired by the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the Global Investors Summit 2023, the ‘House of Himalayas’ initiative aims to systematically promote Uttarakhand’s signature offerings such as Buransh Sharbat, wild honey, mountain pulses, traditional spices, and handmade clothing.
The outlet is expected to further empower local producers, promote sustainable tourism, and contribute significantly to the vision of a self-reliant Uttarakhand.
Also present were Resident Commissioner Ajay Mishra and other senior officials.
