CM Dhami Directs Comprehensive Planning for Crowd Management at Major Temples

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami held a high-level meeting at the Secretariat on Monday, instructing officials to make robust arrangements at Uttarakhand’s major religious sites to ensure a smooth and safe experience for devotees.

Focusing on key pilgrimage centers like Haridwar’s Mansa Devi and Chandi Devi temples, Purnagiri Dham (Tanakpur), Kainchi Dham (Nainital), Jageshwar Temple (Almora), and Neelkanth Mahadev (Pauri), the CM emphasized effective crowd management, widening of footpaths and stairs, removal of encroachments, and provision of basic amenities.

He ordered the formation of divisional-level committees under the Commissioners of Garhwal and Kumaon, comprising District Magistrates, SSPs, Development Authority officials, and implementing agency representatives. The aim is to streamline footfall at these pilgrimage sites, ensuring well-managed, phased darshan facilities.

CM Dhami stressed planned development of temple complexes, increasing their carrying capacity and systematic shop management. He also directed that devotee registration be made mandatory, with crowd control mechanisms to prevent congestion and ensure safety.

Senior officials including Principal Secretary R.K. Sudhanshu, Secretary R. Meenakshi Sundaram, Secretary Shailesh Bagauli, ADG A.P. Anshuman, and others attended the meeting, pledging swift implementation of the directives.
