The Gangotri and Yamunotri Dham kapats opened today on the occasion of Akshya Tritiya. With these portals opening char dham yatra 2025 officially begun. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami himself visited Gangotri Dham to witness the opening of Kapat and performed worship of Goddess Maa Ganga. Although CM Dhami has dedicated the puja in the name of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The portals of Gangotri Dham were opened at 10:30 AM, followed by Yamunotri Dham at 11:57 AM, as thousands of devotees and priests gathered to witness the spiritually charged ceremonies. The events were marked by chants, conch shells, and the waving of ceremonial lamps, invoking divine blessings for a safe and prosperous pilgrimage season.
Speaking to the media, Chief Minister Dhami stated that the state government has made comprehensive arrangements for the smooth conduct of the Yatra. “We are committed to ensuring that every pilgrim experiences a safe, seamless, and spiritually enriching journey. From transportation and medical aid to security and accommodation, all necessary measures have been taken,” he said.
The Kedarnath Dham will open its portals on May 2, followed by Badrinath Dham on May 4, completing the opening of the Char Dham circuit for 2025.
The Chief Minister also urged local citizens and stakeholders, including shopkeepers and hoteliers, to extend their support and hospitality to the visiting pilgrims. He called for collective cooperation to uphold Uttarakhand’s legacy of devotion and service.
With the portals now open, the Char Dham Yatra begins its spiritual course through the Himalayas, drawing lakhs of devotees seeking divine blessings and peace.
