Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami held a high-level meeting with senior officials at his residence on Saturday, issuing strict directives to identify and deport Pakistani citizens residing illegally in Uttarakhand. The Chief Minister instructed officials to begin the process of sending them back without any delay.
Emphasizing the need for stringent security, CM Dhami also ordered officials to intensify the ongoing verification drive across the state. He said that landlords who fail to verify their tenants should be penalized. Stressing on the misuse of government schemes, he directed the authorities to expedite the identification of individuals availing benefits through fake documents and take strict action against them.
In light of the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, CM Dhami expressed concern over the safety of pilgrims and tourists. He directed officials to further strengthen security arrangements along the Chardham Yatra routes. The Chief Minister instructed that any suspicious person spotted on the pilgrimage routes should be immediately detained and questioned.
He also suggested launching a public awareness campaign to alert citizens about security concerns. A toll-free helpline number will soon be issued to enable the general public to report suspicious activities promptly.
Prominent officials present in the meeting included Principal Secretary R.K. Sudhanshu, R. Meenakshi Sundaram, DGP Deepam Seth, Garhwal Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey, ADG A.P. Anshuman, and MDDA Vice Chairman Banshidhar Tiwari.
The Chief Minister reiterated that ensuring the safety and security of citizens and pilgrims remains the top priority of the government, and every necessary step would be taken to maintain peace and law and order in the state.
