Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Tuesday attended the badminton competition of the 38th National Games-2025 at the Parade Ground, Dehradun. The CM honored the winning players with medals and interacted with participants from various states, encouraging them and learning about their experiences.
The Men’s Singles Badminton final witnessed an exciting match between Suryansh Rawat of Uttarakhand and Satish Kumar of Tamil Nadu. Satish Kumar emerged victorious with a score of 21/21, 21/17, claiming the Gold Medal. The Chief Minister presented the Gold Medal to Satish Kumar and the Silver Medal to Suryansh Rawat, acknowledging their remarkable performances.
Speaking at the event, CM Dhami expressed pride in hosting the 38th National Games, calling it a matter of good fortune for Uttarakhand. He emphasized that the event showcases the state’s growing identity as a Khel Bhoomi (Land of Sports) alongside its spiritual identity as Dev Bhoomi. He highlighted the development of sports infrastructure across Uttarakhand, stating that several new grounds have been built to provide better facilities for athletes in the future.
The Chief Minister urged citizens to support and encourage players by attending the National Games and promoting a culture of sports among the youth. He also noted that the event allows players to experience Uttarakhand’s rich cultural heritage, traditional folk arts, and local cuisine, further strengthening the state’s reputation.
Players and volunteers expressed joy at the Chief Minister’s presence, welcoming him with enthusiasm. The athletes praised Uttarakhand’s natural beauty and appreciated the warm hospitality.
MLA Khajan Das, Infrastructure Monitoring Council Vice President Vishwas Dabur, Principal Secretary RK Sudhanshu, Special Principal Secretary Sports Amit Sinha, and other dignitaries were present during the event, marking a celebratory day for Uttarakhand sports.
