Deputy District Election Officer and Additional District Magistrate Ashok Kumar Joshi has urged all candidates contesting the upcoming Municipal Corporation election to strictly adhere to the expenditure limits set by the Election Commission. He emphasized that candidates must refrain from making personal attacks and issuing inflammatory statements against their opponent during their campaigns.
In a statement, Joshi clarified that prior approval from the Returning Officer (RO) of the respective area is mandatory for any form of campaigning, including meetings and rallies. He further stated that the Election Commission is closely monitoring campaigning activities across print, electronic, and social media to prevent violations such as paid news. Candidates were reminded that expenses incurred on promotional materials, including pamphlets, posters, hoardings, banners, and media advertisements, will be accounted for in their campaign expenditure reports.
Meanwhile, Nodal Officer Expenditure and Chief Treasurer Dr. Pankaj Kumar Shukla informed that candidates are required to undergo expenditure audits by the Assistant Expenditure Observer on 10th, 16th, and 21st January in their respective areas. The administration has reiterated its commitment to ensuring free, fair, and transparent elections.
Authorities warned that strict action will be taken against those violating the guidelines.
