Kankhal tha police has seized 5Lakh rupees cash from a Scorpio car belonging to a Congress party worker from Pathri area during checking drive. This has given a boost up to the BJP encashing the agenda at the time when the city had Congress star campaigner Rahul Gandhi conduct his road show.
BJP legislator from Haridwar rural Swami Yateeshwaranand alleged that Congress party was bent upon wooing its voters using money power. The seized amount was allegedly going to be used to bring crowds during the roadshow. Led by Yateeshwaranand, BJP workers sloganed, “Rahul Gandhi wapis jao” from where the road show proceeded near police chowki.
Kankhal thana police sezed 5 lakh rupees from Jagjeetpur police chowki of 2000 denomination. The police has taken two people in custody. When the BJP workers protested on police chowki, Congress workers clashed with them in front of police.
The thana incharge of Jagjeetpur N P Uniyal told the Pioneer, “283 notes of 2000 denomination were hidden in stepny of Scorpio car owned by Pathri resident Sajid. We have informed the income tax department and the election commission. The car also had some Congress flags and banners and posters.”
Notably Sajid has held many positions in Congress party in the past.
