The Sitarganj Community Health Center (CHC) in Udham Singh Nagar district has been upgraded to a Sub-District Hospital, while the Mori Primary Health Center (PHC) in Uttarkashi district has been elevated to a Community Health Center (CHC).
This development is expected to significantly improve medical services in both regions, reducing the need for locals to travel to Dehradun or Rishikesh for treatment. With the deployment of specialist doctors and advanced medical facilities, residents can now access better medical facility closer to their home. Local residents have expressed gratitude to CM Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami and Health Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat for the move.
State Health Secretary Dr. R Rajesh Kumar stated that the 30-bed Sitarganj CHC has been transformed into a 90-bed Sub-District Hospital. A total of 65 posts, including a Chief Medical Superintendent, have been approved for the hospital’s operation, with 40 newly created posts. These include specialist positions such as an Orthopedic Surgeon, Eye Surgeon, Radiologist, and Pathologist, along with Nursing Officers and a Lab Technician.
Similarly, the Mori PHC has been upgraded to a CHC, as per the Chief Minister’s announcement. A total of 37 posts have been approved for Mori, comprising Medical Superintendent, Public Health Specialist, General Surgeon, Gynecologist, Pediatrician, and other key medical personnel.
Chief Minister Dhami has reiterated that the state’s commitment to strengthen public health infrastructure. He highlighted the focus on equipping medical institutions with modern healthcare facilities and ensuring the availability of doctors, life-saving equipment, and medicines, especially in hilly districts.
“The upgradation of these healthcare centers marks another step towards our goal of providing quality medical care to all parts of the state,” said CM Dhami.
