Less polling percentage put pressure over ruling and opposition

Less polling in first phase of Lok Sabha election 2024 has made both ruling and opposition parties impatient. They have been making query from everyone as if they want to understand the psyche of voters. Talking to media a senior journalist said that this time ruling party workers were confident that we have been winning because BJP had coined a slogan that this time BJP would achieve more than 400 seats. Due to this jargon party workers prefer to stay indoor instead of bringing voters to polling booth.

It would be pertinent to mention here that BJP had fielded two heavyweight leaders i.e. Ex MP Anil Baluni from Garhwal and Ex CM Trivendra Singh Rawat from Haridwar Lok Sabha constituency. Beside it, they had repeated the Mala Rajya Lakshmi Shah from Tehri, Ex Minister Ajay Bhatt from Nainital Udhamsinghnagar and Ex Minister Ajay Tamta from Almora Pithoragarh constituency.

In Haridwar Lok sabha seat congress had fielded Ex CM Harish Rawat’s son Birendra Rawat while Ex MLA Ganesh Godiyal from Garhwal and Ex MLA Jot Singh Ghunsola from Tehri Lok Sabha seat. Similarly Congress had fielded Ex MP Pradep Tamta from Almora Pithoragarh and Prakash Joshi from Nainital Udhamsinghnagar Lok Sabha seat.

Ironically in Tehri Lok Sabha seat election were between BJP candidate Mala Rajya Lakshmi Shah and Independent candidate Bobby Panwar. Similary in Haridwar Lok sabha seat independent MLA Umesh Kumar contested election but he could not damage much to ruling or opposition candidate. Interestingly polling percentage have increased on the seat where Congress is having MLA. For instance Haridwar Rural polling percentage is more than 70 percent and the seat being represented by Congress MLA Anupma Rawat, which is daughter of Ex CM Harish Rawat.
