Gourav vallabh joins BJP after quitting Congress

Senior leader Gourav Vallabh, a day after resigning from the Congress party, has joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), becoming another in a series of party members to switch allegiance before the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Vallabh cited various reasons for leaving the Congress, including his dissatisfaction with the party’s stance on several issues, particularly those concerning Hindu beliefs.

Expressing his concerns, Vallabh wrote a letter to Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge, highlighting his grievances. He mentioned his disappointment with the party’s silence when certain leaders in the INDIA bloc made derogatory comments against Sanatan. He also disagreed with the Congress’ position on the Ram Mandir issue, specifically the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ of Lord Ram Lalla in Ayodhya.

In the letter shared on social media platform X, Vallabh criticized the Congress’ economic policies, describing them as “demeaning” to wealth creators. He expressed frustration with the party’s negative stance on every disinvestment happening in the country, feeling stifled by its economic outlook.

As a professor of Arthashastra (economics), Vallabh emphasized that the ideas of liberalisation, privatisation, and globalisation, once advocated by former prime ministers Dr Manmohan Singh and PV Narsimha Rao, are now being opposed by top Congress leaders.

“When I joined Congress, I believed it was the oldest party in the country, respecting youth and intellectuals and their ideas. However, recently I felt that the party was not receptive to the new ideas of youth,” he stated.

Vallabh was a Congress candidate in last year’s Rajasthan assembly elections, which the party lost to the BJP.
