Four days have passed since the double murder of two women in Haldwani with the police yet to ascertain the identity of the guilty. SP City Haldwani Jaswant Singh said that six teams have been formed and deployed to work on this case. In course of investigation team members got some vital clues and they are working on to crack the case earliest.
Police sources said that the post-mortem examination report revealed that both the women had died due to suffocation. The murderers might have used pillows to smother the two women after assaulting them with sharp weapons. The retired army colonel Dinesh Shah’s mother- Shanti Shah and his wife Prerna were the victims in this case. Prerna had also sustained injuries on her face and head from the assaults made by the attackers. Prerna’s hand was also injured and four teeth were found broken. Her injuries make it appear as if Prerna had fought against the criminals to save her life. Investigation has also revealed the probable time of murder which was narrowed down to around midnight.
According to sources, the forensic team experts, who collected the finger prints from the crime scene on the day of the murders, revealed that three persons may have been involved in the Haldwani double murder case. Forensic experts are analysing the evidence collected from the crime scene from where three sets of finger prints other than those of the victims were also collected. Investigation is on and different aspects are being looked into to make some progress in the case.
Meanwhile, Nainital senior superintendent of police, Janmejay Khanduri said that six police teams have been pressed into to crack this case at the earliest.
It should be mentioned here that the case of double murder of retired army colonel Dinesh Shah’s mother Shanti Shah and his wife Prerna in a posh area of Haldwani in Nainital district has sparked off concern among the police officers and local residents who are alarmed at the horrendous crime taking place. The criminals had decamped with jewellery and cash amounting to lakhs of rupees. The double murder cum burglary took place in Shah’s house at Satya Vihar Colony, Dahriya locality of Haldwani on Tuesday night. It is suspected that the culprits broke through the window grills to enter the house in the night and committed the crime. The police suspect involvement of Bawariya tribe criminal gang in this case.
