Uttarakhand received the “Best State for Promotion of Aviation Ecosystem” award at Wings India 2026 held at Begumpet Hyderabad. The award was conferred in recognition of the state’s progressive aviation policies and rapid expansion of air connectivity under the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.

The award was presented by the Union Minister for Civil Aviation in the presence of senior officials including Secreta Sachin Kurve, Additional Secretary Ashish Chauhan, Sanjay Tolia, and other distinguished dignitaries from the aviation sector.

Under Chief Minister Dhami’s leadership, Uttarakhand has emerged as a model state in leveraging aviation for regional development, disaster management, tourism, and public convenience. Special emphasis has been laid on strengthening air connectivity in hilly and remote areas, improving safety standards, and expanding helicopter services across the state.

A key highlight of Uttarakhand’s aviation success has been the effective use of helicopter services during the Char Dham Yatra. Enhanced heli-connectivity to Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri, along with the development of heliports and helipads, has ensured smoother, safer, and more accessible pilgrimage for lakhs of devotees. Senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and pilgrims with limited time have particularly benefited from these services.

The state’s efforts in disaster preparedness, emergency medical services through aerial support, upgradation of airstrips, implementation of the UDAN scheme, and promotion of heli-tourism were also widely appreciated at the national level. Initiatives to connect border and remote mountainous regions through air networks played a significant role in Uttarakhand securing the top honor.

Expressing happiness over the achievement, Chief Minister said the award reflects the collective efforts of the people of Uttarakhand, the state government team, and all stakeholders associated with the aviation sector. He reiterated that the government remains committed to making the Char Dham Yatra more secure, environmentally sustainable, and technology-driven in the coming years.

The Chief Minister further stated that this national recognition will open new avenues for tourism, investment, employment generation, and infrastructure development, strengthening Uttarakhand’s position as a leading aviation and heli-tourism hub in the country.
