The Kumbh 2027 Snan’s dates were announced after a meeting with all 13 Akharas held on the embankment of the holy Ganga in Haridwar on Friday. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami made the announcement in the presence of saints from the Akharas. This marks the first time such a planning meeting for the Kumbh has been convened on the riverbank.
The announced dates include: Makar Sankranti (Jan 14), Mauni Amavasya (Feb 6), Vasant Panchami (Feb 11), Magh Purnima (Feb 20), Mahashivratri – Amrit Snan (Mar 6), Falgun Amavasya – Amrit Snan (Mar 8), Nav Samvatsar (Apr 7), Mesha Sankranti – Amrit Snan (Apr 14), Ram Navami (Apr 15), and Chaitra Purnima (Apr 20).
CM reiterated that the traditions, needs, and dignity of the saint community would remain central to all decisions. “The Kumbh cannot be imagined without the blessings, inspiration, and suggestions of the saints,” he said, emphasizing that their inputs will guide well-organized and comprehensive preparations.
CM Dhami linked the upcoming Kumbh to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of positioning Uttarakhand as the spiritual capital of the world, reiterating the state government’s commitment to making Kumbh 2027 “grand, divine, and historic.”
Recalling that Kumbh 2021 was significantly curtailed due to COVID-19—with Shahi Snan (royal baths) conducted symbolically—he said the 2027 edition will be held at full scale. The state expects a much larger influx of devotees compared to the 2010 and 2021 Melas.
The Chief Minister said preparations for crowd control, traffic management, emergency response, and security are already underway in coordination with central and state agencies, including the police, NDRF, PAC, health, and fire departments. Officials with prior Kumbh experience will also be involved to ensure smooth conduct.
Dedicated teams will look after cleanliness, waste management, drainage systems, and environmental protection across the city and ghats during the Mela.
Saints and Acharyas appreciated the Chief Minister’s efforts to safeguard cultural heritage and extended full support for organizing a grand and spiritually uplifting Kumbh in 2027.
