Twenty One year old Priyanka Negi has been elected as the village head (Gram Pradhan) of Mukhyamantri Adarsh Gram Sarkot in Chamoli district, Uttarakhand. It is an example of youth empowerment and grassroots democracy. Her victory is being seen as a milestone for young leadership and women’s participation in local governance.
Extending his congratulations, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami praised Priyanka’s victory as a reflection of strong democratic values and the rising confidence in young leaders. “Your election is not just a personal achievement—it is a symbol of the strength of democracy, the power of women, and the immense potential of youth,” the Chief Minister said in his message.
Priyanka’s success at such a young age is being seen as an inspiration for the youth of the state, especially young women aspiring to take on leadership roles in public life. Hailing from Sarkot, designated as a Mukhyamantri Adarsh Gram (Chief Minister’s Model Village), Priyanka has pledged to focus on inclusive development, better education, infrastructure, and employment opportunities for villagers.
She expressed gratitude to the residents of Sarkot for their trust and assured that she would work with full dedication to fulfill their expectations. “This is a big responsibility, and I will do everything to ensure that Sarkot becomes a model of development for the entire state,” she said.
Officials and locals believe that Priyanka’s leadership will not only bring a fresh perspective to governance but also encourage similar youth-led initiatives in nearby villages. The administration also hopes that Sarkot’s development will serve as a blueprint for rural transformation across Uttarakhand.
