Uttarakhand Film Vikas Parishad CEO Banshidhar Tiwari visited the Border 2 film’s set in Halduwala, Dehradun. There he also met veteran actor Sunny Deol and acclaimed director Anurag Singh. DG was accompained by Joint CEO Dr. Nitin Upadhyay during the visit.

Discussions centered on the progressive film policy of Uttarakhand, spearheaded under the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. The policy ensures streamlined shooting permissions, robust administrative support, and efficient access to local resources—making the state increasingly attractive to filmmakers. DG  Tiwari highlighted the conducive and film-friendly environment as a key factor drawing high-profile productions to the region.

Border 2, directed by Kesari fame Anurag Singh and produced by JP Dutta, Nidhi Dutta, and T-Series, has been filming in Dehradun since February. Featuring a star-studded cast including Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty, the film is based on the Indo-Pak war of 1971. A large-scale set replicating a Kashmiri village has been constructed in Halduwala since November 2024, showcasing intense action sequences, tanks, and war visuals with heavy VFX involvement. Art director Mayur Sharma and action director Ravi Verma are leading the production’s creative and technical execution. Around 350 local workers are employed daily, boosting regional employment and skills development.

Alongside Border 2, other notable productions are also being shot in Uttarakhand. Ginny Weds Sunny 2, produced by Vinod Bachchan, is being filmed in Dehradun with Avinash Tiwari and Medha Shankar in lead roles. The comedy satire Uttar Da Puttar, featuring Annu Kapoor, Pawan Malhotra, and Bijendra Kala, is being filmed across Dehradun and Rishikesh.

Furthering its commitment to regional cinema, the state is also supporting Garhwali-language films like Marcha, Teri Maya, and Namak, currently being shot in Dehradun, Tehri, and Uttarkashi. These projects are receiving full logistical support while celebrating local culture, traditions, and dialects.

In 2024–25 alone, the state government issued 225 film shooting permissions. Notable recently completed projects include Do Patti, Rautu Ka Raaj, Vicky Vidya Ka Wo Wala Video, and Kesari 2.

With natural beauty, rich culture, and strong policy backing, Uttarakhand is fast establishing itself as a premier destination for Indian cinema.
