Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Harshil and offered prayers at Mukhwa, Uttarkashi, on March 6. His visit has sparked hopes for the growth of Uttarakhand’s winter tourism in the coming days. It has not only brought winter tourism into the spotlight but also laid the foundation for the upcoming Char Dham Yatra, set to begin on April 30. In a short span, winter tourism has garnered national and international attention, highlighting Uttarakhand’s potential as a year-round pilgrimage and travel destination.

During his visit to Mukhwa, the winter abode of Maa Ganga and the scenic Harshil, the PM Modi has conveyed messages with deep significance. His unprecedented promotion of Uttarakhand tourism is expected to accelerate winter tourism. His call to promote “Ghaam Tapo” tourism, organize yoga camps, host corporate seminars, invite filmmakers, and encourage social media influencers has made a lasting impact.

As Uttarakhand is celebrating silver jubilee year, this has been the most serious effort to promote winter tourism. The strategic steps taken by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami to involve the Prime Minister in this initiative have yielded remarkable results. Uttarakhand’s winter tourism has now gained recognition across the country and beyond.

Prime Minister Modi has once again proven to be Uttarakhand’s biggest brand ambassador. His previous efforts in promoting Kedarnath Dham resulted in record-breaking pilgrim footfall. His commitment to Uttarakhand was evident when, despite a change in schedule, he ensured his visit to Mukhwa and Harshil, fulfilling a wish he had expressed earlier during the National Games inauguration.
