CM Dhami reviews preparations for Chardham Yatra in Rudraprayag

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami conducted a comprehensive review of the arrangements for the upcoming Chardham and Shri Kedarnath Dham Yatra during his visit to Rudraprayag on Wednesday. Emphasizing the significance of Baba Kedarnath Ji’s shrine, Chief Minister Dhami highlighted the increasing number of devotees visiting the sacred site each year, indicating a need for forward-thinking strategies and plans to accommodate the growing influx of pilgrims.

In a bid to enhance road safety along the yatra route, Chief Minister Dhami proposed an initiative to plant trees alongside crash barriers, aiming to mitigate road accidents and associated losses. He underscored the importance of piloting this initiative in Rudraprayag district, the revered home of Baba Kedarnath Ji, with plans to extend it statewide if successful. Furthermore, he stressed the need for a development strategy tailored to the district’s unique geography and resources, emphasizing the preservation of heritage alongside progress.

Ensuring the convenience and safety of devotees remained a focal point of the discussions, with Chief Minister Dhami directing the administration and police to prioritize the welfare of pilgrims. Measures to prevent VIP darshan privileges from inconveniencing other devotees were also outlined, along with instructions to combat fraudulent practices related to helicopter services. Additionally, Chief Minister Dhami urged all personnel engaged in yatra duties to exhibit courteous behavior towards devotees.

District Magistrate Saurabh Gaharwar and Superintendent of Police Visakha Ashok Bhadane presented reports detailing the district’s preparations and new initiatives for the Kedarnath Yatra. The meeting was attended by District Panchayat President Rudraprayag Amardei Shah, MLA Rudraprayag Bharat Singh Chaudhary, Minister Chandi Prasad Bhatt, and other officials and staff members.

The discussions underscored the government’s commitment to ensuring a smooth and secure pilgrimage experience for devotees, reaffirming its dedication to upholding Uttarakhand’s rich cultural heritage while fostering sustainable development initiatives.
