Scathing attack on BJP, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra accusing it of becoming world’s richest party in just 10 years. Although Congress could not do this in over 70 years. She said these while addressing a rally in Dhubri, Assam on May 1, 2024.
According to a report by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR), between the financial years 2021-22 and 2022-23, the BJP’s income surged by 23.15%, totaling Rs 2360.844 crore in 2022-23 from Rs 1917.12 crore in 2021-22. In contrast, the Congress reported an income of Rs 452.375 crore in 2022-23.
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also raised concerns about the BJP’s alleged ‘washing machine’ that purportedly absolves members of allegations upon joining the party. She criticized the government’s focus on money-making schemes over developmental initiatives, citing rising unemployment and scandals such as Sampada, PPE kits, flyovers, and cow smuggling.
Highlighting issues of corruption, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra stated, “There were significant allegations against the CM. As soon as he joined the BJP, all the allegations vanished. BJP has a ‘washing machine’ where all the allegations get cleaned. The government does not have focus on you but on earning money. The unemployment has risen.”
She further emphasized the prevalence of various mafias, including land, supari, sand, and coal, along with ongoing scams like Sampada, PPE kits, flyovers, and cow smuggling, suggesting a lack of development initiatives by the government.
