The Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly will hold a special session on January 7. The special session will be held from 11 am. This special session has been convened by Speaker Premchand Agrawal. According to Secretary Vidhan Sabha Jagdish Chand, a notification has been issued to call the session. The third session of the assembly was convened on December 4, which was adjourned sine die on December 10.
The Speaker said that according to the arrangement given in the Constitution, the Central Government has made arrangements to increase the reservation for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes for the next 10 years. It is necessary to get it passed by the legislatures of all the states.
Therefore, a special session of one day is also being convened in Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly. According to the information, the Central Government has recently extended the reservation period for SC and ST.
For this, the approval of the President is necessary. This will be received only when the legislatures of all the states pass and send a resolution in this regard. Since the 10-year reservation period in the Constitution ends on 25 January 2020. Therefore, it is necessary to pass resolutions from legislatures before this date.
