Semester system to begin in Uttarakhand from Class 9 onwards

Semester system will also be applicable in Uttarakhand from classes nine to 12. With this, government school children will have to take the exam twice a year. According to Minister of State for Higher Education Dhan Singh Rawat, this arrangement is being done under the new education policy of the central government. Minister of State for Higher Education Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat gave this information in a workshop organized at Doon University on Sunday. He said that from next December, a new education policy is being implemented across the country. Under this, education system is being done according to 5 + 3 + 3 + 4 instead of 10 + 2 + 3. He informed that the children will study for the first five years (from three to eight years of age) in the cornerstone stage. There will be preliminary phase from class three to eight, middle phase from class six to eight and secondary phase from class nine to 12. The course duration is also being done for four years at the undergraduate level.

During the program, Dr. Rawat said that the semester system is being removed temporarily at the graduation level. It will be implemented again in future when teachers and resources are available. Recently, in view of the students’ movement, Chief Minister Trivendra Rawat had announced the abolition of the semester system at graduation level. Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat said that it has been decided to build a model college in every district. At the same time, principals have been asked to share the expertise of their colleges.

There will be a change in fees in all the degree colleges of the state. A three-member committee is being constituted for this. This committee will give its suggestions for determining the fees. Syllabus will be prepared for studies in degree colleges according to the need of the industry. A three-member committee will also be formed for this.
