Oxygen blast in Haridwar factory kills two

On Tuesday evening, the driver-operator was killed and three employees were badly injured in the explosion of an oxygen cylinder at the Driplex Water Engineering Private Limited Company in Siidul factory in Haridwar.
The accident occurred when driver-operators were unloading cylinders from a vehicle which arrived from the industrial unit of Bahadarabad. The explosion was so severe that the walls were also severely damaged and the glass shattered.

District Magistrate Dipendra Chaudhary, SSP Senthil Avudai Krishna Raj S. reached the spot and inquired about the incident. The injured are being treated at the Metro Hospital in Siidcul.

The incident took place around 4 pm on Tuesday evening. Large RO plants are built in the Driplex Water Engineering Private Limited Company of Siidcul. On Tuesday evening, the driver had arrived at the operator company carrying a vehicle filled with 20 cylinders from an industrial unit in Bahadrabad. They were unloading cylinders in an open space of the company.

18 cylinders had been lowered, but suddenly one cylinder exploded with a sharp noise while unloading the last two cylinders. As a result, the driver operator, who was unloading the cylinder died on the spot,  while three nearby employees were badly injured, who were immediately rushed to the metro hospital.

SP City Kamlesh Upadhyay, who reached the spot soon after receiving the information of the incident, said that the deceased were identified as driver Naved (32) son Abdul Hakim and conductor Akhtar (20) son Ishtkar resident Ibrahimpur.

The injured are named Kamal Son Gajodhar resident Asifpura Fatehpur UP, Shekhar Putra Sant resident Shahjahanpur UP and Gaurav Putra Puran resident Ramnagar Jwalapur. The oxygen is used in welding during RO production. In this regard, a team of technical experts is called and investigation is being done.
